“Turning to Connect”
Key to Success Building Program
Phase 1- 3
Dear Church Family,
It’s been a joy to be your pastor for the past four years. We have faced many challenges together and God has given us the VICTORY, but we now face possibly, the biggest challenge yet; to prepare our church for future growth and renovation.
Four years ago I believe the Lord opened the door for Kristi and I …at just the right time, to return to Guam and minister through Calvary Baptist Church. I am convinced that Guam is in need of a church with a vision to reach the lost and minister in our community. We look around us and see how many people are living on this island and we know God wants us to reach out and be better identified with the community we live in.
During these past four years God has supplied many of our needs through the resources of faithful and giving church members. We have been able to make improvements in our church worship center in areas of new AC units. sound and music equipment, remodeled our stage area and much more.
You may have noticed how difficult it is for visitors to locate the front of our building. When our church was built back in 1968 a road ran along side our building that connected with the community behind the church. Since Marine Drive has become the main highway system and six lanes of traffic pass by our church everyday, it has become evident our church profile to our community is not “seeker” friendly.
Many church members over the past four years have asked me when we will begin to make the rear of our building the front so people passing by on Marine Drive will know what’s going on at Calvary.
Some of our leadership started looking and planning for this turn around years before I became your pastor. I believe God has called me to be your pastor at a time in the history of CBC to help lead and guide our church family through this building program. But, this cannot be accomplished unless the whole church family is in support of this great vision.
Since returning to Guam and learning about the changes in Guam’s population due to an extensive military build-up, tourism, and other families now making Guam their permanent home. I truly feel timing is everything in our planning. Of course without the leadership of the Holy Spirit and God’s divine direction it would be impossible to accomplish this task for Him. To be able to meet the growing demands of our island we must make improvements to our church building, property, and improve our outreach in our community.
Calvary has met many challenges since it was founded and God has supplied our needs. To make this vision become a reality it will take faith and hard work along with each member committed to God’s plan. Our future planning committee will be working hard to make sure this is God’s divine direction and that we pray and wait on Him for direction.
Are you now willing once again to meet the challenge we call “Turning to Connect”? Will you help us raise this support needed to pay for this vision to become a reality?
How can you get involved? First, by praying for us. Second you can give toward our goal, as God leads you.
In Christ Service,
Pastor Tony Smith
